Advising the cantons on the topic of CRPD

What is the CRPD?

CRPD stands for the
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
A convention is a treaty.
This treaty sets out the rights
of people with disabilities.

The UN CRPD states the following, for example:

  • Persons with disabilities have the right to self-determination.
  • Persons with disabilities have the right to work.

What is the situation in Switzerland?

Every canton in Switzerland must pass its own law.
This law states that people with disabilities have rights.

Markus Schefer is helping the cantons with this law

Markus Schefer and his team have explained to the cantons
why this law is so important.

Markus Schefer and his team are working on a guidebook for the cantons.
This will include the following information, for example:

  • What do the cantons need to know about the law?
  • How can the cantons pass this law?
