Every canton in Switzerland must pass its own law.
This law states that people with disabilities have rights.

Markus Schefer knows that this is difficult.
He helps the cantons so that
there will soon be laws on the rights of
people with disabilities everywhere.

Markus Schefer does a lot of work with
organisations for people with disabilities.
He has close contact with a large number of people with disabilities.
He listens to the people and knows what is important.

Markus Schefer has worked in a number of different countries:

• USA
• India
• South Africa

He has learned a lot about the rights in these countries.
This knowledge helps him in his work for the UN CRPD Committee.
